Haad Son Beach, Koh Phangan – Quieter West Coast Bay

Calm and quiet Haad Son [by keepitsurreal]
Haad Son (Secret Beach) provides a great option for staying close to Haad Yao whilst at the same time being somewhere a little bit quieter.

The beach itself is not as big as Haad Yao to its north but it is a gently curved strip of blissful sand nonetheless. The beach is good for swimming and the outlook across the bay from your hillside bungalow will be one you will forever remember.

Located on Koh Phangan’s west coast, Haad Son is well placed for making visits to Thong Sala, Haad Rin and the rest of the beautiful beaches this island has to offer.

Staying on Haad Son beach

There are bungalows that you can stay at right down on the beach or up upon the hillside overlooking the bay. As with most beaches on Thailand’s islands you’ll have a good choice between budget, mid-range and exclusive depending on your taste and available funds.

The bay arcs and there are accommodation options on each side of its headland. On the right hand side – when looking out to sea – is the popular Haad Son Resort which has bungalows down on the beach and then dotted up and around its landscaped bar and restaurant on the hillside. It’s a great little spot with a large area for guests to relax in that offers the usual TV area and tour booking facilities as well as Wi-Fi in public areas and all rooms.

Check out the video below to get a feel for the tranquility and charm of this beach. Having stayed here twice before, I find the calming music and imagery takes me right back.. I can almost feel that sand between my toes and sun on my back!

So there you have it, yet another stunning bay to visit or preferably stay on when you’re on Koh Phangan!

In summary, Haad Son beach would be a great choice if you want to be within reach of the island’s main attractions and like things a little less busy than some of the other, more developed beaches.
