Just a few kilometres south of Haad Yao on Koh Phangan’s western coastal road is Sri Thanu, a more sedate sunset-facing beach. The sand here is typical of this side of the island in that it’s light, white and squeaky under foot!
You can get here on bike or songthaew from Thong Sala or any of the other beaches on the island fairly easily as it’s served by a decent road. There aren’t as many resorts or bungalows here as you’ll find on the more mainstream beaches but it’s charming and preferred by those who like things that little bit more relaxed.
If you’re into Yoga or Pilates you could participate in these activities here as the popular classes are held on Sri Thanu beach (among others) with the backdrop of the ocean, deep blue skies and sunsets to enjoy while you’re exercising and keeping yourself toned.
Could you think of a nicer location for a work out..?! You’d be hard pushed.
