If you like waking up to the sunrise then stay on Than Sadet, Koh Phangan’s most-loved and treasured east-facing beach.
This place is a bit of a hidden gem because it isn’t as easy to get to as some of the islands other beaches which helps to keep the crowds of tourists at bay.
It’s a real beauty though, and if you can wake yourself up from your slumber in time to see the sun rise out of the sea you’ll be in for a visual feast that you’ll never forget.
The majority of the bungalows on Than Sadet conform to the Thailand beach standard.. hammocks on the veranda! What better way to watch the sunrise than to be gently swaying in your very own one.
Taxi’s heading for Thong Nai Pan go past the turning down to Than Sadet, so you can either jump off there and hike or get one that will take you all the way. A 4×4 is recommended as your taxi of choice as the road to Than Sadet can be tricky at certain times of the year. The alternative is to take a longtail boat to Than Sadet and get dropped off right on the beach. When you get here and the taxi’s and boat’s have departed you will experience a beautiful sound.. nothing! Well, maybe the lapping of the waves and sounds of the crickets but that’s about it. Sounds like heaven, right?! It is. Join the sunrise crew and sample it for yourself.
