Tucked away on the north-east coast of the island is the alluring and aesthetically pleasing Thong Nai Pan Noi. This beach pretty much sums up Koh Phangan as it oozes charm and laid back style. As with most of the beaches on this part of the island, you’ll need to put in some extra groundwork to get here but you can then sit back and pat yourself on the back for doing so once you arrive.
The beach is situated just a few minutes walk north from it’s big brother, Thong Nai Pan Yai. Both beaches are sublime but the smaller of the two offers a bit more of a Bohemian vibe with the style of some of it’s accommodation, the funky little village behind the beach and the overall vibe that you can feel here. Basing yourself here for a few days would be a really good idea. You can stroll up and down the beach, visit the longer bay around the headland or catch a boat to a selection of other amazing beaches in the vicinity, such as Bottle Beach or Haad Sadet.
If you’re a beach lover in search of sunrise you can also include that as little bonus during a visit here. Best witnessed from the most northerly point of the bay, it’s a beautiful sight to behold if you’re keen enough to drag yourself from your sleep to watch it happen. If you get tired as a result – no problem at all – just kick back on the beach all day until you’ve recharged!
When it comes to beachfront accommodation, Thong Nai Pan Noi really has got it all going on but if you’re not satisfied being down on the beach then you could always perch yourself up on the hillside overlooking both of the bays here. Is there a better luxury hillside resort to stay at if you’re seeking solitude and incredible ocean views of gorgeous beaches? Maybe.. but you’d be hard pushed to find one! Don’t leave yourself too little time here either as you’ll be sure to regret it if you do.
